Backing up EV ...

Hey all,

What/how do you guys (not using Centerra) back up your EV environment?  I just moved my SQL off of my EV host and am thinking of using Netbackup scripts to shut down the EV services, then have the DBAs to schedule a mainenance dump of the DBs an hour later.  This way I get the EV file system and the DBA without issues of missing DVS files or table entries.  I understand that users can't access their mail but that's not a priority right now.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on my process or if you have better methods.

Thank you!!!
phil.

Well, typcially it is suggested and best practices that you get a backup of SQL and Storage each day.  That way, just in case something bad were to happen, you've got a recent legitamate backup.  It's not necessary to backup your Indexes each day as these are usually easy to recover in the event of a failure, just restore and update.  For indexes, I would try to get a backup a couple times during the week.  On a side note, you may want to backup your Journal indexes every day, but mailbox archives this typically isn't necessary.
