Matt
If you have got the right archiving/backup strategy (first archive, then backup during night), then you're users will never see the pending icon during the day.
If a user cancles the operation, it will be archived again the next day.
The cancel button is mostly used in conbination with manual archiving, where a user manually archives a message using the "Store in Vault" button, where he cancles this because he has made a mistake or something.
Hope this helps.

Hi Matt
What do you mean by "danger"?
I'm not aware of any problems with this function.

We're about to turn on the production environment for a small pilot group and we're now defining how we want to user interface to look. We're looking at whether or not we should give our users the Cancel Operation button.
I think the main concern is that we don't want users to be able to prevent aged items from being archived. If a user happens to cancel operation on an item that is pending archive, will that same item be tagged for archive again the next day?
Is it safe to assume that most people provide this button to their users?
Thanks for the help.
