Delete shortcut with archives item

Is there a setting or way to delete a shortcut from outlook and have the archive Item deleted at the same time? We are getting ready to start a retention policy on mailboxes and some items are archived so we will need to delete those items from outlook. I just want to know if there was an easier way to delete the items without having to restore from evault and delete etc etc....

Its all in your mailbox (EV2007 and below) or Desktop policy (EV8) under the advanced properties, you can set it to prompt to delete shortcut only or shortcut and archived item, or just delete both automatically etc

You will need to allow users to delete the archived items from thier archives. Otherwise users wont be able to delete the archived items.

To do so,

>Open Vault Admin console >> right click on SiteName and select properties
>Click on "Archive Settings" Tab and check the box "Users can delete items from thier archives"
> Synchronize the mailboxes from Mailbox Archiving Task >> Proprties >. Synchronization
