EV Index drive is almost full

thanks for time and effort.

This morning the storage and task controller service stopped.  When I checked the server the EVIndex drive was low on disk space..77MB left of 2TB. I was able to free up another 300MB due to non index files there.

I was reading on the forums to see if I can add an additional drive for the EVIndex. I wasn't clear on how to do that?  Do I need the storage added and then go to Add to Index Server Group? or is that adding a server only?

apologize for all the questions. thanks for the time.

Hi goof717,

You can add more space to the drive, if possible. If not, you can add another drive to the Windows server, close your current index locations and add a new indexing location pointing to the new drive. However, when you close an index location, for Enterprise Vault up to verion 9, EV doesn't create new indexes in that closed location but it will continue adding more index data to the current indexes. Thus, you might need to move some indexes from one drive to another. However, if you are using EV 10: "Enterprise Vault 10.0 does not create new indexes in a closed location or update existing indexes that are in a closed location". Take a look at these technotes:

How to move Enterprise Vault (EV) indexes that are managed by the same EV server .

What happens when closing an Index location and opening another one

I hope this helps.
