EV SQL Database hourly Log Backup

Hi,

Can we setup hourly log backup maintenance plan for EV SQL Databases? Does EV needs to be in Backup Mode for the Log Backup?

logfile backup can be run any time. NO need to put ev in backup mode.

Yes, you can set that up and No, EV doesn't need to be in backup mode.

Just one question - what is the need to do this hourly?

Limited Disk space issue! DBs and Logs can't me moved to a new disk just yet, therefore trying to keep the disk space tidy

Honestly if you're going to be doing hourly, then your best bet may to just put the transaction logs in to simple recovery instead of full

Hmmm, good idea, however we use Netbackup agent to backup EV, so it needs the DB to be in FUll mode.

it does? thats weird, had no idea! never used the NBU for EV agents

Remember that EV won't generate 'many' logs during the day... unless lots of users are manually archiving items? It'll be during the archiving runs that it generates most log traffic.
