EV a1 msmq clearning slow

hi all,

We currently have 2 Exchange 2007 mailboxes in our environment, and recently we encoutered a issue that the a1 queue clearning for mailbox 1 is slow while the clearning for mailbox 2 is fast when mailbox 2 queues are way much higher than mailbox 1 by the way we are using 1 EV server to archive the 2 mailbox servers, would like to know what causes this and how can i resolve this issue because it is impacting the users when they are in for work causing the RPC latency on the users end as they are not able to connect to exchange. Thank you.

Hi,

The a1 queue is used for post-processing: to remove the original items and to create shortcuts.
Do you have any error in the event log files on the ev server and on the affected mailbox server when this post processing occurs? It could be a permission issue: has the Vault service account the same permissions on both mailbox servers? You can also launch Deployment Scanner to check the permissions for the VSA and eventually run Dtrace to know exactly what's happening during the post processing.

Cheers,

Sylvain

Hi Sylvain,

Thanks for the reply, so far we did not find any error logs on the EV and would like to check if the emails/mailbox size is large does this affect the performance of the A1 task to be slow on the clearing? Thank you.

Hi,

Take a look at dtrace of archivetask.  You should see an entry stating "time taken" and you can see how those numbers compare for the two archive tasks.
