Exchange Log files while archiving Public Folders (Exchange2000)

Hi,

We observed that while archiving public folders, exchange200 creates its log files, please confirms if this is normal where as per our understanding Exchange2000 should not create log files while archiving public folders / mailboxes?

Thanks

Nearly all archiving operations by Ev on an Exchange server should create a log file. The only scenario that I could imagine that would not create an entry in a log file would be if you weren't deleting the originial file or creating a shortcut.

Currently we are keeping Remove Safety copy parameter = "Never" in the EV. Here log means = transcation logs of exchange2000. Still it is creating transcation logs in exchange2000 server.

Have you checked the IPM subtype of messages that have been archived by EV? Are they standard Exchange message types such IPM.Note/IPM.Post etc as opposed to something like IPM.Note.EnterpriseVault.

We using IPM.Document, IPM.Note, IPM.Post in the default public folder policy for archiving Public folders.
