HTTPS and EV 7.5SP3 and Building Blocks

Looking for some advice here if possible.

Our environment comprises two EV Servers, we are using Server1 (alias = mail.domain.com) for Mail Archiving and Server2 (alias = file.domain.com) for File Archiving. We have building blocks failover setup and working nicely.

Currently we are using HTTP but I now want to use HTTPS. I note that at the site level I should set the URL as
<https>/EnterpriseVault

My query is what should i be requesting as the name in my certificates for each server, if I use the alias will this work in a scenario where I have one box fail and I use building blocks to host both file and mail on 1 server?

Hope this makes sense.
TIA
Ian

That's a good question.

I think you can use Certificates with SAN (Subject Alternate Name), where you can define more than one name.

Alternatively, you could use a wildcard cert (*.domain.com).

But even if the Cert would not be valid for the "other" server, what would that mean?

In a desaster event, users would have to click away the cert security message... but id would still work, I think.

Cheers

Michel
