Hello,

I have an Enterprise Vault 8.0 SP1 installed and configured in my lab environment.
Some time ago, I've acquired  a new storage and i want to move data completely from old storage to the new one..... - working absolutely to new storage.

Do you know how to do this and have any suggestions ?

thanks a lot in advance.

Hi bahrationi,
  1. Stop Storage Service (Place EV into Read/Only)
  2. Copy Data Across
  3. Update the PartitionEntryTable in the EnterpriseVaultDirectory database
  4. Start Enterprise Vault
In essence that's all that needed.....

Hi
That would depend on how you currently have your storage configured and what is located where
Are you using SAN NAS etc where are your vault stores located and Indexes and is the SQL using the storage and is it on the same server.

Alot more info required I am afraid ;)

There's actually an article on this that gives you the detailed steps:

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/273271.htm

The only difference in EV8, of course, is that you're putting the stores in backup mode and not utilizing the registry keys that are specified.  Otherwise, everything else should remain the same.

So,... i'm using SAN storage and both - vault stores and indexes are located on that device.

As to SQL Server, it's located on another storage.

....... Whatever,   i need the correct advice...... it will be greatly for looking some knowledge bases or articles about this issue.

Thanks

My 2 pence's worth...

If the vault store partitions and indexes are moved to a new storage platform as long as they are presented to the EV server in the same way, i.e. drive letter and exact path there is no need to modifiy SQL.
