Inconsistent number of items listed in Archive Explorer

FBD
Level 3

We are using EV 8.0 SP4 backend with Outlook 2003 and  EV client 9 add-in.

Intermittently within Archive Explorer we are seeing discrepancies in the number of items located within folders

A user navigates through folder,  0 items is listed, after a few minutes we return to the same folder a number of items is listed.

This will occur in the same IE session or 2 different IE sessions.

AE requests can be a heavy request. For this reason the EV Devs have coded into the page to be very clingy with the cache. The page is not designed for dynamic refresh. Usually this manifests with items being deleted are not reflected within the folders.

A nice comparision would be to see what Search returns for that folder which would be an "accurate" count of items in the index for that folder.

This may just be a result of caching by design

I would check and clear the IE cache or you can run the ResetEVClient.exe, see if that is the cause of the issue.

Defo what CTEV says, also try ans narrow down whether it's an IE thing oe whether it's related to a specific PC.

Does this happen for all users? What is the IE setting for 'visits to this page'?

You could also try rebuilding the Virtual Directories.

And then it is worth going thru the IIS logs, and possibly WireSharking or Fiddler tracing it to see if its something weird on the EV side of things or a network thing
