Index cleanup

We are running EV8.0 SP1. Our local policy is to delete archives after the mailbox is deleted from exchange. When I mark an archive for deletion does that also mark the corresponding index for deletion?

Yes deleting the archive will delete the indexes and also any data stored in the vault associated with that archive

Thanks for the Solution marking on the posting.

Just an FYI if you delete an archive of 500GB don't expect 500GB of space back on the vault because any data that has duplicates and is SIS'ed will result in the item not being deleted but the SIS database being updated to reflect that one item that is linked to the SIS'ed part has been deleted. Only when all the savesets that are linked to the SIS'ed item are deleted will the actual item be erased and the storage occupied by that item freed.

Again another thing that can affect the space returned is that if you are using collections then the space may not be returned because only when a certain percentage of the cab file is marked for deletion will EV repackage the cab file and release the space of the deleted items
