LogMissingItems

Hi,

Does anyone know about the LogMissingItems registry key? It's mentioned in this article http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/280895.htm without mentioning how I implement it.

Cheers

Hi,
The technote mentions it is on by default.  Are you saying you want to turn it off.  The technote says there were significant changes in v7 sp1 so I would check the updates.htm for v7 sp1

But the article says:"You can configure the required level of logging for the Indexing service, or disable logging, using the LogMissingItems registry setting."
Do you know how to configure the level of logging?

cheers

According to the Documentation (Registry_Values.pdf / .chm):

LogMissingItems

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
\SOFTWARE
\KVS
\Enterprise Vault
\Indexing

DWORD.

0 — Do not log savesets or content that is missing from the index.

1 — (Default.) Log savesets that are missing from the index to the
IndexMissing.log file.

2 — Log missing items and items with missing content to the
IndexMissing.log file.

Specifies whether the Indexing service keeps a record in
comma-separated value (.csv) format of the documents that were
archived but not indexed. The .csv file is stored in the index volume
folder. If you choose not to create the file, IndexServer still logs the
errors in the event log.
Note that this .csv file, and the missing item information it contains,
are only generated by the Indexing service when it is in the process
of indexing items. The Indexing service does not automatically
generate missing item information for any items that were indexed
using a previous version of Enterprise Vault.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
