Manual Archive - Access Denied Message.

Level 3
Hi all - we are running EV6 and recently we started getting an error when trying to manually (via the Outlook toolbar) archive an email.

The error is:
An error occurred while processing the selected item.

If you click the details button, you get:
0x80070005 : Access is denied.

It does not matter which account is used - admin or user.
The automatic archive process is working AOK.

We have had this logged with Symantec support for some time with zero response.

Help!

Aaron

Hi,

What about other operations like search, restore, viewing archived item does that work?
Are you using the 'lite' or full EV client

t00n

All search functions are OK  when access via outlook, including the Archive Explorer function.
How do I tell if I am using the full or lite EV client?

Thanks!

Hi,
To tell, when manually archiving, does it ask the end user to chose a destination archive and retention category?  if it does then that's the full client, if it doesn't ask the user for these things, then it's the lite client.

Normally, people are prompted but we have it setup such that its not possible to make any changes - so they just click OK and off it goes.

I have just created another partition in the Archive as well.  No change.

Also, have enabled logging in the EV client and get:

Hi,

Check that DCOM is still enabled on the client.

As predicted, it was disabled.
I have enabled it as per the article and rebooted, but the same error persists.

Have installed the v7.0 of the EV USer Extensions - same error occurs.
Other suggestions?

I changed it to HTTP mode - still does not work, but I get this error in the log:

03/04/2008 02:31:30.598: Log file created (level 0).
03/04/2008 02:31:30.599: HTTP request error: 314 (503)

Are there any events in the EV App log during that time?

t00n
Level 3
No - none at all - even with logging at Maximum on the storage service.
Certainly no error events - all are informational.

Are you trying to archive into your own mailbox or a shared mailbox?? The logs indicate an access issue....

t00n
Level 3
Only into my own mailbox.
I thought a permissions issue as well - but I logon as domain admin - so unless there is something else?
And checking the permissions on the mailbox within EV, my own account is there with all 3 permissions granted.

Dodo - I checked to see if DCOM was enabled on the server - it wasnt.
I enabled it, and it is working.

I have no idea what switched it off.
