Message \ Placeholder in Limbo in Outlook

Hi,

If possible I'd like to know the best practice for undoing this situation.

A user had a pst attached externally, dragged and dropped a folder in their mailbox.
Hit Archive, didn't realise they had exceeded their mailbox limit by doing this.

This then rendered their mailbox in-active whilst the size issue was in place, so to rectify the user then dropped the mails \ placeholders with "This Item is being archived" back into their PST.

Now when the user has placed these mails \ placeholders back into Outlook they refuse to archive.

What would be the best partice for reflagging these mails that are still waiting to archive?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,
You should be able to Cancel Operation on these items.   Unless you are hiding this command via policy, you should be able the hightlight the pending item and go to Tools-Enterprise Vault - Cancel Operation and this should return the item to its original state.  You should be able to archive it again after that.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your reply, at present this option under the EV options in Outlook is not available due to policy.

Would there be a cmd line way of undertaking this for a single user, other than modifying the default exchange mailbox policy for all users.

P.S. Is there a way to just delegate this permission to domain administrators etc

Thanks for the help Paul
