When an Archive is deleted after its been restored. Do the pointers in Outlook automatically get removed after Vault does its nightly maintenance?

Version 7 will have a Tool for removing orphaned shortcuts. Shortcut deletion in EV 6 does not currently clean up if you delete an item from a search tool, but EV 7 will.

Do you mean an archived item or an entire archive? Unless Shortcuts have expired or the archived item has expired I do not believe shortcuts will be removed. Both processes require storage expiry to be running.

What I mean is when you delete an entire Archive from Vault, you still see the pointers in Outlook. Do these pointers get automatically removed or is this a manual process?

It is a manual process.

Well,....

It's manual in the sense that you have to turn on the scheduling for shortcut deletions, and enable shortcut deletions in private mailboxes. Then it should run each night, and figure out if a shortcut doesn't have a corresponding item in the vault. If there's an orphan, it nixes it in the exchange mailbox.

This is why you should run shortcut deletion only after you run expiry.
