OWA 2007 Missing Buttons / context menu

Reading a lot about the missing buttons in combination with OWA2003 and earlier, I feld that I was pointed in the right direction for the solution of my problem. But somehowe I am not able to show the buttons and context menu within OWA 2007.

The OWA extensions are installed and all cache (servers and clients) is cleared.
I do see that the smallicons.xml and webconfig are backed-up by EV and looking into the smallicons.xml the addition of the EV buttons are in place.
The log file of the IIS tells me that the directory used is;
 2007-11-01 07:15:19 W3SVC1 10.33.253.41 GET /owa/8.0.730.1/themes/base/logon.css - 443 - 10.33.170.220 Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+6.0;+Windows+NT+5.1;+SV1;+.NET+CLR+1.1.4322;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727) 200 0 0

But looking into that directory I do not see any kind of config file or .js (like those under the EV directory \Owa\EnterpriseVault\v7.5.0.1250).

I have read somewhere along the board, can't remember where, that copying files towards the used IIS/OWA-directory would show the buttons and context menu.

I could use some input in how to solve/approach this problem. This issue I have to solve urgently as we are about to implement EV Archiving in our production environment. At this time this issue is a "showstopper"

Having edited the web.config file on our CAS servers by putting the string
<add key="EnterpriseVault_LogEnabled" value="true"/> a log file was created.
After examining this log I've found that there was a time-out of 30000 milisec. Looking a bit more secure it was noticed that the requested URL was https://localhost/exchange/.......

Changing the web.config with <add key="EnterpriseVault_WebDAVRequestHost" value="mailboxservername"/> did solve the problem.
However still it is needed to have a http(s) connection between the CAS server and Mailbox server.

As the both servers are on different networks we unfortunately have to change the firewall rules.

Is there a way to create the connection without changing these FW settings?

Hi

Have you tried using https://<server>/owa yet?
/Exchange is there for compatibility reasons with Ex2k3/Ex2k and is communicating via HTTP from CAS to Mailbox Server, where /owa is communicating via MAPI.

Cheers
Michel
