Permissions on archives for deleted mailboxes/accounts

Running Enterprise Vault 2007

We have EV users that  have been removed from AD and Exchange and their accounts are in EV but there are no permissions on them or there are specific users that have rights but I can't remove them, receive an error "Please enter an existing Windows NT account name"

I know it is our bad that we didn't disable archiving on these mailboxes before they were deleted.

Users are complaining they see these archives in their Search Vault and no longer wish to have them in their list.

Is there anything I can do.

Is the "Bill Usage To" field populated?  If not, assign a user and then try to delete the necessary users that no longer need access.

With EV 6.0 you could run EVPM and zap the users mailbox to remove these permissions.  We are not at 2007 yet, but I would assume this method would still work fine. 

The script would look something like this:

[Directory]

DirectoryComputerName   = ServerXXX 
Sitename    = VaultSite

[VaultPermissions]

vaultname= DesiredNameHere

zap     = True

Filling in the "Bill usage" fixed it.
