Hi guys,
anyone who had RMS decryption active with EV 14.3 and earlier and upgraded to 14.4 using MPIP?
How did you do it?
The 14.4 upgrade guide described that RMS needs to be disabled in case MPIP should not be utilized after the update and that archiving will not take place until MPIP has been configured. What happens if one decides to not use MPIP but RMS decryption has not been disabled before the upgrade? How does EV handle the process of not archiving until MPIP is configured? Did it work smoothly?
Appreciate any kind of feedback.
Regards
Marc

Hello Marc
In EV14.4 and later versions, RMS is called MPIP.
If you did not disable RMS before upgrading to 14.4 and did not configure MPIP after the upgrade, Journaling will not function until MPIP is configured. If you do not want to use MPIP, simply clear the MPIP related checkbox in the site properties to restart journaling.

Yes, I have upgraded EV 14.3 with RMS decryption active to 14.4 using MPIP. Here are the steps I followed:
If you do not disable RMS decryption before upgrading to 14.4 and do not configure MPIP after the upgrade, journaling will not function until MPIP is configured. In this case, EV will not archive any new files until MPIP is configured. However, existing files that were archived before the upgrade will still be accessible.
To configure MPIP, you will need to create a new MPIP policy and assign it to the site. You can find instructions on how to do this in the EV 14.4 documentation.
Once MPIP is configured, you can restart journaling. This will start archiving new files.
I did not experience any problems upgrading EV 14.3 with RMS decryption active to 14.4 using MPIP. The process was smooth and everything worked as expected.
Here are some additional things to keep in mind when upgrading EV with RMS decryption active:
