Single Instance Storage - SIS

I want to try and get the definitive answer on Single Instance Storage for Mailbox archiving.

I would like to confirm the following. SIS of attachments does not occur across different messages. So, if an email and attachment are mailed to 1,000 people then this message and attachment would have SIS. However, if the same attachment goes out in another message there will be to two copies of the attachment.

Any one want to chime in.

Thanks.

This is true, added to this...there is no SIS if the same file is archived from two different sources....for example if a file is mailed to 1000 and one of them stores it on a file share...and if both FSA and Exchange is being archived to the same storage partition, dont expect SIS.

Nue, that is correct on both counts.

why do you ask, what's the issue?
