Strip Attachments from Calendar or Meeting Requests in Folders

Hello everyone!

I have a problem where end users are storing meeting requests and calendar appointments in subfolders of their Inbox. Usually they are not large, but they are attaching documents relevent to their meeting on them. As these documents already exist on the network, I am hoping there is a way to get EV to strip attachments from expired appointments regardless of their location in the mailbox structure.

Is it possible that because Meeting Requests are a IPM.Schedule class that this would also be a problem when it comes to stripping the files?

Thanks

Marco, look into setting up a custom filter. You may be able to set one up to strip attachments from certain message classes. If you're really stuck with setting it up talk with Symantec consulting.

The documentation for that is in Installing and Configuring. Look under the Introduction to Filtering section, in there.

Custom filtering would prolly work, but why not just set the calendar items to be archived via their IPM field (properties setting at the directory level), and then set the "Strip calendar attachments" option to enabled in your mailbox policy. Sync your users, and then run an archive run against a test user for functionality testing. It "should" archive the expired calendar attachment, and leave a shortcut to the docs there in the calendar item.
