Upgrade 32bit (EV9) indexes to 64bit (EV10) indexes?

Is it possible to upgrade our 32bit EV9 indexes to 64bit indexes after installing EV10? The documentation makes it sound like the existing indexes are forever trapped in 32bit land.  I have not found very much information that explicitly explains the upgrade changes from EV9>EV10  but ive peiced most together already.
