i have recently migrated by vault mailbox from one server to another using the manual export and import of my pst. I can restore items from my archive just fine but i cannot store emails into my vault. The icon within the email appear to change but then disappears and nothing happens and the icon never actually changes. We are on EV 8.0 SP2. Any help would be appreciated.

i've seen this exact thing happen before now that you mention it is getting archived, its because of cross server msmq communication.

Because what's going to happen is, when you do a manual archive, your storage is on one EV Server and your archive task is on another server,
so the following happens

1. You store in vault: goes to ServerA::A2 queue
2. Archive task picks up the request and sends the item to ServerB::Storage Archive queue
3. Storage Server attempts to post back to ServerA::A1 queue but it fails due to permission issues

The following article should correct this:

did you fully sync your mailbox after the move?
i'd also check using OWA or another profile to see if any of those works

Well you have an Enterprise Vault Archive, which is associated with your Exchange Mailbox.
Whenever a change is made to your policies or archives etc, you need to perform a synchronization against the exchange mailbox

this will update the hidden message with any new policy settings etc.

In this case what might be happening is that your hidden message in your mailbox references all your old archives etc

so on the Archiving task which looks after your mailbox, if you go to the properties, you have a synchronization tab to which you can choose your mailbox to give it the latest policy settings etc and update archive ID's and what nots

Note that synchronization should occur once a day, and can run twice a day if configured

as i mentioend in my 1st post when i click on store in vault the icon appears to change to the vault arhive icon but then changes back to the default outlook icon(envelop). When i go into the archive explorer I can see those emails that I just archived---the only issue is that Outllok does not update the ico to tell me if it has been archived.
