eVault 9.0.1 plugin with 8.0.5 backend

Ok, we have a deployment of eVault 8.0.5 at work with the http plugin installed on Outlook 2003 clients.  That is the SUPPORTED configuration from our Exchange team.

I am in the IT department and responsible for desktop management and support.  I know for a fact that we have at least 2 executives that are currently using Office 2010 with Outlook 2010.   They are currently on an Exchange 2003 farm with no eVault, but will be migrated to an Exchange 2007 farm with eVault 8.0.5 as the backend.

The new environment was set up by some consultants, and they won't answer any questions without submitting a bill, and won't really answer any questions about unsupported configurations that were not part of the consulting agreement.

So, from little information I can gather, the logs on my Outlook client show a backend SERVERVERSION = 8.0.5.  I assume that is is 8.0 SP5.

I read the Symantec release that the 9.0.1 frontend is supported against an 8.0 SP4 backend with hotfixes installed that are bundled with the plugin.

Since I am not about to take an executive and DOWNGRADE their version of MS Office, I need to know if the 9.0.1 plugin can be installed against an 8.0.5 backend as-is with Outlook 2010, or are the hotfixes still required?  Is there a plugin for both 64-bit and 32-bit versions of Outlook 2010?

Also, where can I download the 9.0.1 plugin, and are there any recommended updates that should applied after 9.0.1 is installed?

This link seems to be msi installs with the cumulative updates through 2-11-2011.  Would these work, or will these ONLY work against a 9.0.x backend?

The 9.0.1 Outlook Addin will work with an 8.0.5 back-end.

The http plugin seems to only work with the 32bit version of Outlook 2010.  When I try to install it with the 64 bit version of Outlook, it keeps telling me that I need Outlook 2003 or higher to use the plugin.

Any idea where to get the 64 version of the plugin.

The HTTP plugin works with both 64 bit and 32 bit Outlook 2010.   The version which gets deployed depends on what is detected at install time.

 

What is the exact error you're getting, and when are you getting it?

 

What Operating System is this on?  Was this a clean install of Outlook 2010 64 bit?  Was it a clean install of the Outlook Addin?

My bad.  Was using the client install from the wrong location.  It's installing now.
