Hi,

You can go from 9.0.3 to 10.0.4 which is the latest version available. Only when you are upgrading from one EV family release to another, I mean from 8 to 10, you need to go to 9 and then to 10.

I hope this helps.

we were told by our managed services group that we have to go to 9.04 then 10.1, 10.2, 10.3 and finally to 10.4

from what you're saying, we can bypass everything and go directly to 10.4

this TN has the supportes upgrade path for EV, CA and DA

The only issue you might have is if you are running EV 9 in Windows Server 32 bits. Since EV 10 requires Windows 2008 64bits, you need to perform an extra step which is move EV 9 from 32bits to a 64bits OS.

However, if you have CA/DA, then the upgrade path is not that easy. Check the technote above for more details.

Yes you can directly upgrade from EV 9.0 to 10. There are many things which you will need to consider before you could go for upgrade. For example, EV 10 requires x64 h/w and OS. If your EV 9.0 Server is 32 bit then you can use Server Migration wizard to migrate server to EV 10.

Here you can find the upgrade instructions of EV 10.

About the New Domain, are you migrating everything to new domain, I mean Exchange Servers, EV Servers, and All user accounts?

You mentioned that you want to upgrade EV in a new domain. I think you might need to install a new EV server in the new domain and migrate the data over. If this is the case, I think you might want to have someone on site to assist you with the entire migration, since this scenario is not just an Enterprise Vault upgrade.

I hope this helps.

Your current EV version 9.0 SP3 & you can upgrade directly to EV 10.0 sp4 (latest version) as per upgrade path supplied by Gabe.

If your current server is 32 BIT then you need to migrate to 64 BIT hardware which also upgrade to 10.0.x version at the same time. The details and steps are mention in guide  (Enterprise Vault Server Settings Migration wizard) http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO42445

You also need to move to different domain (AD) domain which you achive by following the Guide mention in TN http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO77280  (How To Move an Enterprise Vault Server to a New Active Directory Domain).

Above information would give details of each phase (upgrade, migrate-64 bit hardware, migrate to another AD domain). Now it's up to you on how to take these steps, as example.

1. First move EV to different domain with current version (9.0 SP3) on 64 BIT hardware.
2. Upgrade to latest version (10.0 sp4)

Upgrade instruction already given by other members.

Ask your managed service partner to detail the reasons for all the Service Pack hops, they might have a more detailed grasp of your environment that a forum cannot

Hi,

You can upgrade from EV 9 SP3 to EV 10 SP4 but EV 10 require 64 bit Operating System. If you are using 32 bit OS for EV 9 SP3 then need to upgrade EV OS to 64 -bit and then perform EV 10 SP4 upgrade.

Are you chaning the current doman ? means your curren domain is abc.com and you want to upgrade EV from this domain to another xyz.com something like that ?
