We have InfoScale 8.0 with patch 1800 installed on many of our production environment current RHEL 4.18.0-372.32.1.el8_6.x86_64 planning to upgrade kernel 4.18.0-425.13.1.el8_7.

We usually have problem when we upgrade O/S kernel then infoscale stop working. Is anyone have good, planned steps to do this upgrade painlessly.  Just want to get an idea and planning get version matching on veritas sort.

Thanks,

-Anthony

Thee are some Veritas software components are  OS kernel version specific.

What you can do are:

1. a fresh full backup

2. a fresh VRTSexplorer/DataCollector report

3. follow the Veritas  patch installation instructions to apply the patch

4. Check the patch/OS kernel compatibility,  if the kernel is compatible with the patch and Veritas shows driver compatibility issue, re-link the relevant library or simply re-install Veritas

PS if there is/some Veriras error(s) shown up during server start up, research the error to find a Veritas solution (technote).
