On September 25th, 25 members of #TeamVtas joined the 2018 Grace Hopper Conference alongside over 21,000 women from 81 countries, celebrating the career interests and research of women in science and technology fields. Veritas was among the event’s official Top Companies and a Silver Sponsor.
The Grace Hopper Conference results in networking and mentoring opportunities for attendees, as well as the presentation of collaborative proposals. “GHC presenters are leaders in their respective fields, representing industry, academia and government. The celebration also offers professional development through a variety of activities,” explains the Anita B organization of the annual event.
Veritas Director of Finance, Sarah Byrne, participated in the GHC technical panel, Is Less Really More? The GDPR Paradox. Byrne shared her perspectives on GDPR compliance implementation for a company’s internal data, as well as the incorporation of compliance practices in external products and services. The panel had a compelling conversation on the importance of data, its analytic value, and the value to personal data and its use.
Providing “the largest gathering of women in computing,” those of us at Veritas Technologies representing #WomenInTech are grateful to be a part of such a meaningful experience in accord with AnitaB.org and the Association for Computing Machinery.
Opportunities like attending the Grace Hopper Conference and engaging other technologically driven women in the industry are a part of what make #LifeAtVeritas so inspiring.
