At Veritas, the success of our customers is always a top priority. That’s why our team was so excited to learn we have been recognized as a “Customers’ Choice” for File Analysis software in Gartner’s July 2020 Gartner Peer Insights ‘Voice of the Customer’: File Analysis Software.
I enjoy browsing through real customer reviews. In Gartner’s own words, these include “more than 340,000 reviews across more than 340 markets. The Voice of the Customer is a document that synthesizes Gartner Peer Insights’ reviews into insights for IT decision-makers."
There’s a wealth of good information there, and the reviews are easy to read and navigate. You can check it out for yourself at https://www.gartner.com/reviews/home.
Within the Veritas Enterprise Data Services Platform (EDSP) we’ve worked hard to align Data Insight to solve our customers’ complex data challenges – helping them expose potential data liabilities, know where important or sensitive data exists, and predict problems before they happen. For example, Data Insight uses deep learning technologies to generate a proprietary data risk score between 1-100, helping administrators spot data risk early. In short, the offering scans data environments for metadata and permissions and ‘listens’ for access events from configured devices.
Our vision for Data Insight is to allow IT Data Management teams to distribute responsibility concerning data - like access to sensitive files – appropriately within their organizations. This requires knowledge of who should be the owner or custodian of each item of data and should be responsible for effective remediation. We call this Inferred Ownership of data. However, with millions or billions of files spread across the organization, it is an impossible task for IT managers without help. Data Insight solves this challenge by determining inferred ownership of data and by providing the ability to assign data custodians. Rather than assigning ownership to the creator, Data Insight uses sophisticated algorithms to look at user activity, behavior on files, and file access events to identify ownership of files. Inferred data ownership can be easily viewed in management dashboards or through reports to help ultimately reducing data risk and providing a more ‘pro-active’ approach to data management.
It’s also great to see how many of our Peer Insights customers are using Data Insight in a variety of ways:
But enough ‘marketing-speak’. Let me share a few quotes from Gartner’s Peer Insights reviews on Veritas Data Insight. One of the questions Gartner asks users is “what they like most about the software or service:
A big “thank you” to Gartner for tapping directly into the voice of the customer. It’s great to hear how companies are solving their biggest data challenges with Veritas. We’re very excited to continuously help our customers gain broader insight into their unstructured data on-prem and in the cloud.
