Netbackup master 7.1.0.3 - windows 2008 Std sp2
netbackup san client 7.1.0.3 - windows 2008 R2 Std sp1
Symantec Appliance version 2.0.1 ( Act Media server Deduplication and FT media server) - 2 x Dual port of FT and 1 x Dual port for Tape out
I have managed to configured the SAN client to work on the above mentioned configuration once with one FC port as target only.
But when i tried to reconfigured more than one target ports i will face problems with this error.
Status 83 (media open error) when backing up a SAN client and could not open FT client pipe: pipe open failed (17)
According to the specification , 2 x Dual Port can be marked as Target ports for FT transport.
Please advise.

On the 5220, I don't think both of the FT cards (the top one is specified for tape-out) are target-mode. I believe one card is target-mode and one is initiator-mode.

From 52xx media server guide.
From page 84 , FC HBA slot 2 and Slot 4 shown by default only on port1 for target each .
Can you advise can we configure the port2 as target on both Slot 2 and Slot 4?

Support may have a process for this, but I am not familiar on if this is a supported configuration or not. I have your question out to my specialist team to see if anyone has ever done this before.

From the information I've been able to find, configuring the 52xx appliance as an FT media server (either through the CLI shell or using the check-box found in the web gui after the initial install) sets all of the additional FC cards to target mode. If you have any additional questions, feel free to let me know!
