2008 32 bit client

We are starting to get more servers that are running 2008 32 bit and we do not have a client for it. I have a couple of questions. I understand 2008 64 bit was having problems running the regular 64 bit client which is why we have the updated client for 2008. Was 2008 32 Bit OS having the same problems? Is there a 32 bit client for 2008 or can I use the regular 32 bit client? If there is a 2008 32 bit client, what version did it come out on?

Thanks,

Dan Seymour

GA stands for "General Availability" but it's just another way we refer to the initial 6.5 release.

You've got it right - install the 6.5 client and then immediately apply the 6.5.2A release update and you should be good to go.

This link is to Symantec's software upgrades. I believe the 32-bit 2003 also works with 2008. But as you stated, the x64 version requires its own install for 2008.

While we have separate downloads for 2008 Server Core and 64-bit 2008*, I think for plain ol' 32-bit 2008 you can get away with installing the 6.5 GA 2003 client from your media kit, so long as you make sure it's immediately upgraded to 6.5.2 or above (we'd prefer 6.5.4!) afterwards with the installation of the appropriate Release Update.

I am not sure what 6.5 GA is. What does GA stand for. (I can be a little thick sometimes). So, if I understand what I'm reading, I would load the regular 6.5 X86 client on the 2008 32-bit servers and immediately use the 6.5.2a upgrade and it should run fine. This would be important as the Master and Media servers are running 6.5.2 and, at this time, there are no plans to upgrade them.

Thanks
