Adding a drive path to an existing robot controlled tape drive

Noor_Toorabally

Hello,

I am facing an issue, we have a robot control tape drive on netbackup 6.5.6 master, control host being the netbackup master server sesegx10.

This Tape drive is shared with other media servers, example sesegx08 and seprdu01.

The paths for sesegx10 and sesegx08 are ok but I cannot add a path for seprdu01 on the netbackup administration console  giving the error: Drive address 8 is already occupied by a drive...(attached)

sesegx10: RHEL

sesegx09: RHEL

seprdu01: Solaris 10

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Can I send any relevant logs?

Hi Noor,

Kindly ensure the drive 8 is accessable in media server( solaris 10) i,e device file.

In the information window which you pasted above  says that the configuration details are not available because the drive is not configured on a host being scanned.

Issue the scan command and ensure that drive 8 is scanned and configure the same with tpautoconf comamnd.

Hello,

I ran the /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/scan command on the media server, but the tape is not detected.

Details below: the 2 drives i want to add being /dev/rmt/26cbn and /dev/rmt/27cbn

If the tape drive IS visible at os level (eg luxadmin or cfgad,m -al -o show_FCP_dev )

then I would just rebuild the sg driver on the media sever.

cd /usr/openv/volmgr/bin/driver
mv sg.conf sg.conf.safe
mv sg.links sg.links.safe
../sg.build all
modunload -i $(echo $(modinfo |grep "sg (SCSA" |awk '{print $1}'))
mv /kernel/drv/sg.conf /kernel/drv/sg.conf.old
/usr/openv/volmgr/bin/driver/sg.install

Try scan again ...

Regards,
