Please advise where should i touch the altnames? on the destination client or master server?

Who is media server?

'bpcd on giraffe l exited with status 59: access to the client was not allowed'

You need SERVER entry on giraffe for master and media server. Ensure that incoming IP address from master and media server is resolved to hostname that corresponds with SERVER name in bp.conf on giraffe.

Create bpcd and dbclient log folders on giraffe. Remember to 'chmod 777 dbclient'.

altnames go on master server.

The media server that backup the Oracle DB is from the tiger which is the Media server attached to the library .

So i have to add the lion and tiger to the giraffe SERVER entry?

Correct.

Your first line in bp.conf on giraffe must be:

SERVER = lion

If you have multiple entries for media servers, ensure that there is one for tiger.

SERVER = tiger

Other than that, just follow the steps in the manual... If the 'upfront' config is done correctly, restore normally goes through fine.

Don't forgot check too in /etc/hosts in all servers and test comunication

In camel -> telnet giraffe bpcd

in giraffe -> telnet camel bpcd

in tiger -> telnet giraffe bpcd

in tiger -> telnet camel bpcd
