Another set of tapes for same backup

Hi I need some advice on what's best to do if I want to backup the same data using 2 different sets of tapes/media? Here is the scenario:

In line with our SAP Archive Backup which run every 4 hours, and writing the log file twice in the tape, it is requested that the log file be written once in alternate sets of tapes. See flow below:

- SAP Archive Pool will have 2 sets (A and B).

- On the First run, log file will be written to Set A

- On the 2nd run and before deleting the file on disk, log file will be written on set B.

 Thanks.

Hi,

Why don't you just use inline copy and send it to 2 different pools, poolA and poolB for instance.

You can configure inline copy on the schedule in your policy.

Then you don't need to do 2 runs (unless that is a requirement for some reason). Let me know

Hi Riaan, we need to backup the same data alternately due to when the 2nd backup run the data on the disk (host client) will be deleted automatically so I would not need to run the inline copy. Thanks.
