Backup Non-NDMP hosts to an NDMP Target

OpenVhomedir
Not applicable

I have a 7.5 Master/Media server connected over a lan to a dozen clients and a NetApp Filer that has a tape library behind it (via fibre). Currently I can conduct NDMP backups where the NetApp Filer files are the backup source and the tape robot is the destination. However, I would like to use the tape robot for lan clients as well and I am having trouble getting it to work. Is this possible?

no, ndmp storage unit can be used for NDMP backups  only.

To use this robot for other type of backups, you need to present tape drives in this robot to any common media servers via SAN, and configure these drives as normal. You may need Shared Storage Option license for each tape drives if you have no dedicated drives for narmal backups and you need to share tapedrives between NDMP hosts and media servers.
