Cannot install Netbackup 7.6.1 client on Windows storage 2012

Hi,

Right now my Windows Storage server 2012 cannot install with Netbackup 7.6.1 client.

The first error come out during installation is "Netbackup stop working" and than, the second error which is "Errpr 1935" as per attachment.

For information, before this the server is being installed with Backup Exec agent. I've successfully remove it throughout the registry and installation folder. Not a clean uninstall I must say.

The server also has been installed with Symantec Endpoint Protection.

I even perform most of the troubleshoot found on the net and the issue remain unsolve.

Regards

The issue seems to be with Windows Installer. Similar issue here installing something else:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/Azure/en-US/6424171e-a859-45b2-b1fa-d512fead24f7/windows...

Probably why you could not perform clean uninstall of BE?

One more thing:
Are you aware that NBU 7.6.x ran out of support a year ago?
This fact makes it impossible to log a Support call or even find anything on Veritas site.

notice on the windows installer issue. I even run the C++ repair provide by the Netbackup installer.

and also, I've confirm that the technical support not support 7.6 version as I log case before.

My only choice is upgrade the Master server to version 8.0 or 8.1 to be able the technical support help me on this issues.

I still believe that you have a Windows Installer issue, not NetBackup.

Have you had a look at the Microsoft forum post? And the links posted in that discussion?

yeah, still looking through the forum...

will let you know the outcome

Along with the links provided by Marianne, do take a look at the below 2 links as well if they can be helpful. Ofcourse both point to changes from Windows perspective, nothing to be done from NBU side

If all else fails, you can try to to debug windows installer itself and then re-run the setup and check with the log file generated in the temporary location. That may give you more info regarding the windows side issue reported

To enable Windows Installer logging, open the registry by using Regedit.exe, and then create the following subkey and keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer
Reg_SZ: Logging
Value: voicewarmupx
