            Could anyone explain exchange backup configuration DAG OPTION- DATABASE BACKUP SOURCE) and preffered server, what it the default selections

Click on create new policy, select MS-Exchange-Server, you'll see the default options.

Have you tried the NBU for Exchange Server Admin Guide  http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3669  yet?

Trust me - it contains the answer to your questions.

It allows you to choose where you want to take backups from...passive/ active and if you have more than one copy, which one/s and the order. Only you and your Exchange personnel can answer the questions.

Thanks for the help guys I have configured exchange backup earlier but dag is someting new to me. I will consult my exchange admin for further details :)

You need Exchange Admin's assistance. Don't try this on your own.
