DFS backup - two bpbkar processes, squillions of files being read at once ??

Is this normal behaviour for DFS backups or has the backup become dazed and confused?  This not the first time seen this.

A MS-Windows policy is backing up only the Shadow Copy Components  from five dirs.  Found the DFSR server has disk IO maxed and found that two processes (bpbkar) were responsible for having squillions of files open (according to MS Resource Monitor).

I am not a export on DFS.

bpbkar should normally do serialized open read close of files. If the two have a huge amount open it do sound abnormal. Do you have jobs active in Netbackup activity monitor else I would try to cancel the two bpbkar processes - if possible.
