Estimated Performance Improvement from 1GHz to 3GHz server

Greetings,

If there is a Netbackup Server version 5 running WIndows 2000 server on a 1GHz processor server and there is a need to change the backup server into a newer server running 3GHz processor, will there be any performance improvement since the server has a faster processor ?

Note: Presume using same tape library and scsi adapter.

Kindly advise.

Thanks and Regards

yes, but physical memory and tuning is more important than speed.

I suggest you to download the performance tuning guide from VERITAS :)

Performance inprovement by CPU replacement is not so much.
Performance mainly depend on I/O bandwidth of disks, tapes and networks.
