From which host should i backup Oracle

Hi All,

We have Oracle RAC on ASM.

I am configuring Database Backup.

What is the suggested host to backup? Physical or VIP?

I read many places that VIP is recommended so that we can restore on any physical node.

If yes, but I am facing one problem here. I installed Netbackup software on physical server. When i run backups using physical server as client it is completing successfully.

But when i use VIP as client in netbackup policy its completing with the following error.

ORA-27028: skgfqcre: sbtbackup returned error
ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
VxBSACreateObject: Failed with error:
Server Status: there are no active policies in the configuration database

Should i install veritas client again and provide VIP hostname this time?
