How to Change Restore Media Server

Hey,

Previously we have a backup that used media server1. However we have since connect the server to master server for some reason. After which we found that we cannot restore files to it.

And I found that the cause is because whenever we do a restore the media server specified is still the media server1.

I have checked the policy. We have changed to Master.

This only happens to those backup that used the media server1. Those new jobs after the switch to master do not have the restore problem.

use 6.0, but it may be similar.  In host properties, go to the porperties for the master server. Then in the General server section, add the name of the original backup server and the new backup server in the Media Host Override.

You should still be able to do the following command in 5.1 - Just check out the bpmedia command

bpmedia -movedb -m <media_id> -newserver <new server hostname> -oldserver <old server hostname>

You could always try using the FORCE_RESTORE_MEDIA_SERVER sentence in the master server bp.conf
