How to configure Netbackup Cloud Storage with private cloud storage providers like Swift

Hi,

I just tried backup and restore using Netbackup cloud storage with Amazon S3.

Could someone please guide me if it is possible to do backup/restore using Netbackup with some other cloud server other than the mentioned cloud storage providers like Amazon, Nirvanix, AT & T and Rackspace?

What if i have a private cloud storage provider like Swift? How can I use Netbackup cloud storage with the same.

it is not currently listed in hardware compatablity list, so its not been supported

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH76495

so you can try testing with your own risk and see how it goes..

and if you like you can check with netbackup sales team to understand the future enhancements in the to support the swift cloud

Even thou cloud has been a buzz word for some time now, there is no defined standard when it comes to backup to a clod. It more or less a unique interface for each cloud vendor.

I it would be cool with a open stack interface for Netbackup ....

Hi Nicolai,

Do you have any knowledge about it can be done or where should I begin with?

I have no idea about how to do it so any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Cloud Storage needs a special NBU plugin from the cloud vendor that was specially written for NBU and tested successfully by Symantec and the vendor.

You will see supported plug-in version for each supported cloud vendor in the HCL (link in Nagalla's post).

The HCL also contains information about Symantec Technology Enabled Program (STEP):

Qualified hardware listed in this document is tested through the Symantec Technology Enabled Program (STEP). If you would like to have hardware considered for inclusion on this HCL, please contact your hardware partner to ensure they are a member of STEP and have submitted a request to have their product qualified with NetBackup. Information on STEP is available at http://www.symantec.com/partners/programs/technology-partners/step.jsp
