Hi, I have a lot of tapes that got frozen by netbackup due to config problems. Those have been fixed but now I want die unfreeze those tapes that got frozen. But I know there is about 4 tapes that are frozen due to true media errors. How do I check why media is frozen. Thanks Johnny

Here is a helpful technote that includes how to determine why a tape was frozen

Hi,

Media gets freezed if while backup operation some Media error is occured.
SO you will have to check the problem log for the error "Failed to Write to Media" "Media Write Error or something of this kind.
or even you can check whether any job is failed with
Status Code:84 (Media write error)

Hope this helps!!!Message was edited by:

netbackup\bin\admincmd>

bpmedialist -mlist

this will list all media in the pool and show you if frozen\suspended\expired

bpmedialist -summary | grep -i "FROZEN" | more
