Is back-up client needed on each guest

Is there a scenario where Netbackup can utilize virtual center and not need a client on every windows guest for back up and restore? vsphere 5.1 netbackup 7.5.

The client is only needed on the VM to utilize single file restore. If you are happy with full VMDK you don't need the client - although I personally would recommend it.

You also need agent on the vm's where you want to backup Db or App, such as SQL or Exchange.
