HI,

We are running MSEO with Netbackup 5.1 MP6 in our lab. Is there anyway to check a specific media is encrypted? except checking with different media server.

Thanks.

First, make a backup of the MSEO keys using the export utility.

Perform a MSEO backup.

Delete the MSEO key

Try a restore.

The restore should fail if the tape is encrypted.

Import the keys back into MSEO and try to restore again.

The restore should be successful.

I agree with Reagan.. That is the best way to check if your tape is encrypted.

Or else you can also check by changing the keys but please be sure to make a copy of the existing keys as you will require that to restore the old tapes.

And I'm not sure if it is universal, but we're running solaris 10, and if you look at the drive path, we look for "cgsb" in the drive path.  I'm not an expert on MSEO, but that is one way we can make sure that our data is encrypted.
