Hello,
I was reading some info about NB6.x support stopping sometime soon. When exactly will NB6.x no longer be supported? I also read that NB7.x 'only' supports 64-bit OSs. Is this in reference to the Server only or does this apply to the Client also?
Are upgrades / updates to NB7.x straight forward or do we have to remove previous versions and do a clean install?

6.x Partial support starts from August 1st. October 3rd October 2012 is the official end of support
Have a look at this support matrix that lists all of the NetBackup versions end of life schedules.

And a forum article on end of life of 6.x
You do not need to remove NetBackup 6.x software to install NetBackup 7.x you can upgrade.
