NBU 7.1 barcode mismatch with Quantum Scalar i500

Hi,

I recently upgraded our master server from 6.0MP6 to 7.1 in order to be compatible with the new i500, repalcing a Scalar 50.

All went smoothly.  Prior to the upgrades I ejected all the media from the old robot. I upgraded the single server to 7.1 and added the new robot.

Oddly though, despite setting the media ID rules, for some reason NBU reads the original media barcodes as (for example) 005000 instead of 005000L4, hence creating a media ID of 5000 instead of 5000L4.

The robot *is* reading the barcodes correctly, I've verified this via the robot interface.

It's as if NBU isn't getting passed the barcode correctly from the robot?

This of course creates the problem where the media ID is now different to that in the catalog.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

p.s. I've got my media rules set correctly as: MEDIA_ID_BARCODE_CHARS = 1 8 3:4:5:6:7:8

I suppose that i500 provides only 6 characters as tape barcode to hosts, although i500 recognize 8 characters barcode. This must be configuration issue. Check i500 settings. http://qsupport.quantum.com/kb/node/2170

Use robtest to see what the robot is passing to NBU. Do 's s' to show slots. If robot only shows 6 characters, you need to check robot settings.

Thanks for finding this for me. Six plus was the correct setting.
