Hi
We are in the process of converting a remote backup master to a media server of our main datacenter. Both are currently at 7.6.1.2. Following will be done as per the approved model:
1) Integrate Master Server "master2" as a media server to "master1"
2) Upgrade "master1" and all media servers to 8.1 (which will include "master2")
My concern is that post upgrade, will the catalog from my previous "master2" be available from import in "master1". How will I do restores?
Please provide your suggestions.

@Marianne is absoutly right. If you want to be able to restore old backup belong to master2 you need 2 activities:
1. Master servers merging
2. Demoting master server "master2"
or you can sacrifice master 2 backups and attache it to master1 as a media server :)

Thank you @Mike_Gavrilov. Yes, the end game is to make "master2" as the media server.
