NBU7 Enterprise Client on the Sun Fire v440

Mjahtetn

The customer has the following server:

Sun Fire V440

OS: Solaris 10

Number of CPUs installed/ used: 4

According to the latest Processor Tier Matrix (Screenshot below) it mentions

that the NBU 6.5 Tier for SunFire V440 is 1:

But as per the licensing guide of NBU 7 (screenshot below) it says that NBU7

tier for 4-7 processor sockets for Solaris is Tier 3

Now for quoting NBU7 on a Sun Fire v440 which Hardware Tier should I use 1

or 3?

Thanks

According the NetBackup 7 Licensing and Support Services Guide:

NetBackup Server, Enterprise Server, Enterprise Clients, Application and Database Packs, SAP Agent, Media Server Encryption Option are priced on a per machine basis -- independent of the number of domains in the box. The Tier of the required license is determined by the number of populated processor sockets on the machine

For Unix, Tier 1 is 1 to 2 processor sockets.  Tier 2 is 3 to 4 processor sockets.  Tier 3 is 5 to 12 processor sockets.  Tier 4 if 13 or more processor sockets.

The 4-7 socket tier (Tier 3) is for Windows/Linux/SolX64 - NOT Sparc.
