Dear all ,
We are using symantec netbackup in our company for more than 2 years.
now in our environment we are planning to deploy a gateway level firewall .
We are using 4 master servers, media servers ,more than 200 nbu clients ,op center analytics ,and also Zmanda softwares for MySQL backup .

Previously in firewall below mentioned ports were opened :

Services      ports

VNETD         13724

PBX               1556

NBAC          13783

NBAC          13722

So ,apart from above mentioned ports; which  ports should be opened in their new firewall  for master servers, media servers , nbu clients ,op center analytics ,java console from clients site and Zmanda softwares for MySQL backup?

Waiting for early response ……

Are you using NBAC in your environment? If so, yes. Open those ports.

I am not aware of any special port requirements for MySQL. You may want to ask Zmanda if they have any other port requirements.

Port 1556 is all that is required for normal server/client comms as well as for OpsCenter.
If you have email and/or snmp configured with OpsCenter, you will need port 25 and/or 126.

below are the info

  • If using VxSS with NetBackup Access Control (NBAC):

Master servers require the TCP ports vrts-at-port/2821 and vrts-auth-port/4032 to the VxSS server.

Media servers require the TCP ports vrts-at-port/2821 and vrts-auth-port/4032 to the VxSS server.

Clients require the TCP port vrts-at-port/2821 to the VxSS server.

Java/Windows admin consoles require the TCP port vrts-at-port/2821 to the VxSS server.

Java/Windows admin consoles to master and media servers requires the TCP ports for vnetd/13724 and PBX/1556, bi-directional.

Have you had a look at TECH136090 yet?

I'm sure you will find all your answers there.
For example:

If using VxSS with NetBackup Access Control (NBAC):

Master servers require the TCP ports vrts-at-port/2821 and vrts-auth-port/4032 to the VxSS server.

Media servers require the TCP ports vrts-at-port/2821 and vrts-auth-port/4032 to the VxSS server.

Clients require the TCP port vrts-at-port/2821 to the VxSS server.

Java/Windows admin consoles require the TCP port vrts-at-port/2821 to the VxSS server.
