NetBackup 6.5 media server upgrade problem

Hi all,

  Since, i have already upgraded a Master server from NBU 6.0 to NBU version 6.5. But i 've got some problem on upgrade media server:

 1, I can't found any guide for upgrade Media server from 6.0 to 6.5.

 2, Can anyone give me some suggestion /advise to upgarde Media server from 6.0 to 6.5?

by the way, i've got 2 media server in my NBU system also NBU 6.0 version.

Hi Gotti,

I believe the upgrade should be as simple as running the Setup.exe from the CD. The main changes would be to the EMM database on Master Server and there is not a lot to change from NBU 6.0 to 6.5.

Have you tried the upgrade yet and if so do you get any errors, what are the problems you are facing?

I would suggest you review the Installation Guide, Chapter 2 - Installing or upgrading NetBackup server software - http://support.veritas.com/docs/290198 as there may be some steps you need to follow if you are upgrading a clustered media server, otherwise it should be farely straight forward.

HI Gary,

 Thanks for your helpful information & solution, but i forgot to mention that i was using Unix Plaform, both media server were installed & running 6.0MP4, Master server running 6.5.

 Actually ,i tried to run the installation scripts from "NBU6.5_upgrade.tar", and my master server was upgarded successfully but it hasn't prompt me to install the media server during the "NBU_6.5" installation.

 And i was found a Guide for Unix NBU media server upgrade, would you give me some suggestion to

 follow the steps?

For UNIX Media Server upgrades. I suggest you review Chapter 4 from the NBU 6.5 Installation Guide:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/290199 - from page 53 onwards.

 Since i am a newbie in NBU... i would like to know...the upgrade file & Scpipt should be run on the media server or master server? 

  which means the upgrade was only run on the master server as it can upgrade the media server ? otherwise, the upgrade will be run as sperate media server?

You will need to run the install script from the Media Server.
