Hello

We really need some help with our backup situation.

Backup server
Server HP Proliant G3 360
OS Windows 2003 R2 SP 2

Our problem only occurs with "Notes Mail. All other jobs are just going smooth. But when we trie to backup our Notes HI it always ends with a socket error write 24. I have tried finding a solution, but not´hing helps. When we are making full backup in the weekend, there is no problem.

I have posted the job details below

Hello James

I have already seen this "white paper" as the link referes to, but it is mentioned that it is only for Solaris Operations Systems?

Do you know if it is the same when we are talking about windows 2003 R2 ?

I really appreciate your answeer and recommendations.

Since its windows, I would
Check you lan card speed settings (is is set to auto, full, 10, 10/100, duplex bla bla bla) , Switch port settings set to the same spee as the card on the server and get the stat's from the port, you might try patches that petain to the network card.

Can you disable the teaming for testing purposes?

Hello All

Yesterday we tried to set up the time values in Netbackup. We didn't get the error today. When this is said, it is not certain at all, that the problem is solved. We have already checked the speed on both NIC's and our switch port settings, they are all ok. If this was the problem, wouldn't the error come every time we took a backup?

Yesterday we also patched our backup server. We will follew the servers now, and if the patced we made above, we will try patching up our Notes server

I will give you an update on this matter next week.

Thanks for your suggestions and replys

This could be related to a known issue with the "TCP Chimney Offload" feature.  This problem effects Windows servers that have Broadcom network adapters and have this Offload feature enabled.

Microsof Page on this problem:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942861

Symantec Page on this problem:

http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/296341.htm

Try disabling this feature and see if it helps:

Netsh int ip set chimney DISABLED
